Manish Malhotra to design for the biggest theatre play 'Mughal-e-Azam-The Musical'
The famous designer Manish Malhotra is set to designe the costumes for the play biggest theatre play 'Mughal-e-Azam-The Musical'. After four sold out seasons in Mumbai, finally Nation’s biggest theatre productions “Mughal-E-Azam - The Musical”comes to the capital city Delhi to mesmerize audiences. As today the entire team of the play interacted with the media in Press Conference held at India Habitat Centre.

Present in the event was the famous designer Manish Malhotra, who for the first time in his 26-year career, designing the costumes for a play. Along with him the director of the play Feroz Abbas Khan and Choreographer Mayuri Upadhaya were also there to grace the event. Even Director at Shapoorji Pallonji group Deepesh Salgia and Deepak Bajaj Executive Director at NCPA too shared their presence.

The entire team shared their own views and thoughts for the same, so in between speaking of his vision for the theatrical director Feroz Abbas Khan said, "I wanted to do something that was totally against my grain. I wanted to share this great piece of cinema as a huge theatre experience. For audiences in Delhi, we are setting it up on an even bigger scale than Mumbai." Whereas, Manish Malhotra who has designed a record breaking six hundred plus costumes for the musical adds, "The costumes reflect the traditions and tehzeeb of the Delhi Sultanate.

 The fabrics, textures and the embroidery showcase the grandeur of the Mughal era and I have tried to stay true to the times." 

The play is a heartfelt and honest tribute, to a timeless movie in the history of Indian cinema. It is one of the few grand-scale Broadway musicals coming from India. Thunderous dialogues, melodious songs, and mesmerizing dance sequences can take you to the nostalgic era and complements to the love saga of Salim and Anarkali in the best possible way.
